TODAY IN CLASS
Though not advertised as such, we are partly reviewing for the short fiction unit test as part of discussing the Foster text.  We will continue some of that work tomorrow, but we will also turn out attention to Metamorphosis.

FOR TOMORROW
So you need to have read Part I of Kafka's story.  If you haven't started reading yet, I will be spilling only one bean if I tell you that in the first sentence, the protagonist turns into a big bug.  Yes. For real.  Do not expect him to wake up from this "nightmare," or in any other way for this to turn out to be a trick of some sort.  So don't wait for that to happen before you start thinking about good questions . . . students sometimes decide to postpone considering Kafka's "real issues" until the story "makes more sense."
And over the next week . . .
Read chapters 10-14 of Foster.  A couple of these chapters are exeptionally quick reading.
