TODAY IN CLASS
Several ideas regarding theme in "Granny Weatherall"--then we switched to the opening two paragraphs of "Araby." As has often been the case, first period moved through all the categories (though not necessarily in an orderly progression) to highlight both the interlocking nature of the various elements of fiction as well as to show the significance of the story's opening passages to the meaning of the work as a whole. Many good things also happened in 2nd and 3rd--we just didn't quite finish.
FOR TOMORROW
Read "A & P"; make sure you can be articulate and insightful about applying your letter group's designated focus to this story.
