Tess Papers in to turnitin.com (if you were gone today)

TODAY IN CLASS
We looked at the highlights of the Tess passage, but no details here--some people are still finishing up, I would bet.  But the folks who were here will be concise and brilliant in filling you in tomorrow.

Also, students had about 20 minutes (not quite enough, really) to study Dylan Thomas's "Fern Hill" for color imagery, unusual similes/other figures of speech, religious allusion, music, and sound devices.  We did not debrief that--we were waiting for our missing friends and will do that tomorrow.  So if you'd like to gain some first-hand experience on your own, read the poem and think about basically every poetic technique imaginable.  It's in the big lit book.

FOR TOMORROW
As promised, no specific homework this week as so many of you are testing.  But we are pressing on in class.
So we will discuss the passage ever so briefly, the poem a bit more, and then look at some moral ambiguities in Tess.
