A Two-Part Post

The 1:30 Wednesday afternoon entry
Here's the link for the peer response sheet for the Ibsen/Chopin
essay.  Some of you need it to get your work done in a timely fashion.  All revisions are due on Friday whether you were in class today or not.

Late Afternoon Installment (after a short student conference, a faculty meeting, another meeting, and setting up 5 turnitin.com folders)

1) Anyone who was absent today or who simply did not have a paper (for whatever reason) needs to arrange to trade with someone else who needs a response.  Some of you know who you are--otherwise, sign-up on a sheet when you come into class on Thursday.

2) Due on Friday:
  • Revised second draft (obviously take into account today's observations and suggestions, but also take a fresh look at your own style.  Pay attention to elements not addressed on the peer response sheet: transitions, vocabulary improvements, "wordiness," awkward phrasing, the use of literary present, punctuation, and other details of smooth writing.
  • Stamped first draft and response sheet. . . because that is the only way you will collect a few points for the "process."  I stamped it to show that you did it on time, but note that I did not record them.
  • turnitin.com--does not close until Friday night (11:59 p.m.) but why wait?  Submit it when you finish revising. The folder is open and waitng.
3) Thursday, Friday, and Tuesday will be Frankenstein days.  Have your book with you, and prepare by using the review questions on Monday's post.  (I'll post more late tonight or sometime on Thursday)

Keep the parent/child "theme" in mind, and note the obvious way in which Shelley broadens the idea. Continue adding  thematic elements to your mental repertoire as you see them develop.
